STEVE CHURCH
PRINCIPAL

Steve Church Steve Church was born in Southern California and moved to Seattle after first grade. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a major in Art and a minor in Health from Weber State University in 1985. He has been with Sorenson’s Ranch for 7 years. The first five years were as the art teacher. He then went back to school in 2006 to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration/ Supervision. He has been the principal since the end of 2007. In the spring of 2009 he began to split his duties and took on the art classes as well as being the principal.

Steve has been a business owner, teacher, general contractor, real estate broker, residential real estate investor, coach, husband, and a father. Out of the many vocations he has had, education is what makes him the happiest.

Steve has been happily married to Bonnie Church since 1983. Bonnie shares Steve’s love of art, and she also works in education. Steve and his wife have raised three children (all of whom live in various parts of Utah). Their oldest daughter teaches high school English. Their son is in college studying to become a high school history teacher and basketball coach. Their youngest daughter is a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Steve’s father, George Church, was one of three original founders of the SUWS adolescent wilderness program. SUWS was one of the first wilderness programs in the country and was the first in Utah. He has benefited greatly from his father’s example, knowledge, and experience of working with adolescents.
